In the past few seasons, the comparisons between the Green Bay Packers’ Jordan Love and the Detroit Lions’ Jared Goff have only increased. Now, they have been compared again based on a key stat, but this time Goff has been overlooked yet again.
Goff has helped the Lions reach the Conference Finals in 2023 and clinch the first seed in 2024. Meanwhile, Love has led the Packers to the playoffs in each of the last three seasons. Now, when it comes to the most passing touchdowns on 3rd downs since 2023, both Goff and Love are ranked in the top 5.
In the ranking, Goff ranked first among all quarterbacks with 33. Meanwhile, the Green Bay quarterback ranked second with just one touchdown fewer than Goff, with 32, ranking at No. 2.

The ranking, shared by NFL senior researcher Anthony Holzman-Escareno on the NFL Researcher account on X, also had Patrick Mahomes rank third with 30, Baker Mayfield rank fourth with 28, Lamar Jackson rank fifth with 26, and Joe Burrow rank sixth with 25.
However, the attention has been on the two top spots because of the close competition and being fierce NFC North rivals.
Take last season, for example. Goff threw for 4,564 passing yards and scored 34 touchdowns on 68% pass accuracy and threw just eight interceptions. Meanwhile, Love threw for 3,381 yards, scored 23 touchdowns on 66.3% pass accuracy, and threw six interceptions.
However, when it comes to clutch moments like third-down conversions, the difference between the two quarterbacks is thin.
While Love was able to make the playoffs last season and Goff wasn’t, Goff has made it further in the playoffs than Love. He has a record of 2-2 in the playoffs, better than Love’s 1-3 playoff record.
Fans react to the list of QBs with the most passing TDs on third downs since 2023
Despite Goff ranking above Love in the list, most NFL fans have instead ignored Goff on the list, as shared by FanDuel on July 26, and believe that Love is instead ranked first.
One fan shared a meme in relation to the list.
"Another list with Jordan Love at the top," read the meme.
Meanwhile, one fan, on the basis of this list, believed that Love was actually a top-five quarterback in the league.
"Jordan Love again shows up at the top of the list. If I didn't know any better I'd submit to you he is absolutely a top 5 QB," read the comment.
Meanwhile, one fan didn't want people to know about Love's output to let teams be surprised when they face the Packers.
"Are you just trying to tell us that JLove elite? If so, Packers nation already knows.. let the rest sleep on him..."
However, one fan did not pay heed to any of it and asked a simple question.
"Who's won a ring since then?" asked a fan in the comments.
Meanwhile, one fan went above and beyond with an infographic to call Love a good, not great quarterback and mentioned other players such as Kirk Cousins, Dak Prescott, and Derek Carr, among others.
Most of the comments praised Love, leaving Goff largely overshadowed.
While this might not be the first time that Goff has been overlooked by NFL fans, this is certainly a bizarre situation when it is clear to see that Goff was indeed ranking above Love.
