For Jared Goff, the offseason has included more than football. The Detroit Lions quarterback shared a special occasion with his wife, Christen Harper, adding another cherished memory together.

On June 7, Christen shared a picture with Goff on her Instagram story. 

“The most beautiful day celebrating the Higbees’s!” wrote Goff’s wife for the caption. 

They were attending the wedding of the Los Angeles Rams tight end, Tyler Higbee. He got married to his longtime partner, Malea, on June 6, 2026.

Tyler and Malea are parents to two children. They welcomed their daughter, Lyla, in October 2022 and their son, Hendrix Kai, in May 2025.

Goff had to be present for Higbee’s special day, with whom he crossed paths between 2016 and 2020 in Los Angeles. The Detroit Lions quarterback was selected first overall in the 1st round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Rams.

Coming out of high school in the same year, the Rams selected Higbee with the 110th overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. However, in 2021, Goff was traded to the Lions. But five years later, his bond with his former teammate still runs strong.

While they played on the field, they established a strong connection. 

"I trust him as much as anybody," said Goff in an interview in 2019, noting that Higbee is one of his best friends. "That's why I feel comfortable throwing him the ball."

Higbee’s wedding marked the reunion for the current and former NFL players. Other than Goff, former Los Angeles Chargers quarterback and present Carolina Panthers passing game coordinator Michael Bercovici was also in attendance with his wife, Jaylee. 

While Goff enjoyed celebrating his former teammate's wedding with his wife, he will soon turn his attention to an important season with the Lions.

NFL Analyst Makes Case for Jared Goff's Recognition

The veteran quarterback owns a 90-60-1 career record and has thrown for 39,622 yards, 256 touchdowns, and 102 interceptions while completing 65.8% of his passes. During his time in Detroit, he has helped guide the franchise into contention after a long period of struggles.

Yet an NFL analyst thinks Goff did not earn enough credit for what he has put up. 

“It is rare for a former No. 1 overall pick to be underrated, but that has become the case with Jared Goff. In fact, I think he’s the most underrated quarterback in the game today,” wrote NFL.com’s Bucky Brooks.

Continued postseason success may be key for Goff to earn his due credit. But the Lions will first need to regain their footing. Detroit followed up a league-best record in 2024 with a last-place finish in the NFC North the following season.
