Amid the grind during the offseason, the Motor City team shot a lighthearted team segment, the “Word that describes your teammate,” in collaboration with Best Celebrations, giving fans a glimpse of the chemistry and camaraderie that continues to grow inside the locker room.

Among many notable moments in the clip, one standout where Jared Goff’s photo appeared, and without hesitation, Isaiah Pacheco called him the “GOAT”, which he backed up by the $4M defensive end Tyler Lacy.

Goff wasn't expecting the reaction.

“H*** yeah, what you got?” Jared Goff asked Pacheco when his photo appeared. “GOAT,” Pacheco said, backed by Tyler Lacy. 

Once Pacheco broke the ice, the rest of the locker room quickly joined with their one-word description for the Lions starter.

Isaac TeSlaa paused for a moment before answering, appearing briefly star-struck as he searched for the right word to describe his quarterback, before calling him a “leader”.

Going on with the flow, the Lions star edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson described him as "kind,"  Alim McNeill went with "goofball," wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown labeled him "chill," Jahmyr Gibbs said he was "accurate," and Sam LaPorta crowned him as "Papa Goff." 

Other teammates added words like "smart," "general," "captain," "king," "savior," showcasing the respect that Jared Goff has earned through his gameplay and leadership.

None of the responses were focused on statistics, rather, they reflected how they see Goff on the gridiron. 

With the trust and faith shown by his teammates, an NFL analyst has settled the debate around Jared Goff’s status in the league. 

Jared Goff earns honest ranking ahead of 2026 NFL season

Bryan DeArdo of CBS Sports settled the debate over Jared Goff's NFL ranking. 

According to him, Jared Goff is a “below average” quarterback in the league. He said that through the first five weeks of the 2025 season, Goff played MVP-level football.

However, he pivoted it during the other five weeks. He ranked him below Patrick Mahomes, Matthew Stafford, Lamar Jackson, Josh Allen, and Joe Burrow.

In the 2025 NFL season, the Detroit Lions narrowly missed the playoffs with a 9-8 record. Still, during the season, Jared Goff remained a production machine.

Per Pro Football Reference, he appeared in all 17 games and threw for 4,564 yards, in which he scored 34 TDs with 68.0 CMP%.

During his ranking, DeArdo clubbed Goff with QBs like Jalen Hurts, Sam Darnold, Caleb Williams, Bo Nix, Jayden Daniels, Brock Purdy, Jordan Love, Justin Herbert, Dak Prescott, Drake Maye, and Trevor Lawrence. 

With the new ranking around his name, Jared Goff is set to lead his team on their redemption path for the Lombardi Trophy.
