Jared Goff hasn’t lifted a Super Bowl trophy after being in the league for a decade now. But there's one number that puts Detroit’s quarterback ahead of the biggest names.
According to the NFL analyst Warren Sharp, Jared Goff tops the list of “QBs with 30+ TD passes every year for the last 3 years” by outshining the big names like the Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the Bills QB Josh Allen.
Goff was drafted first overall by the Los Angeles Rams in 2016 out of California.
As per Pro Football Reference, consecutively for the last three years, Goff has scored 30-plus touchdowns while leading the Lions offense.
In 2025, he scored 34 TDs, 37 in 2024, and 30 in 2023. But adding to that list, Goff has scored 32 touchdowns in 2018 while playing for the Rams.
On the other hand, Mahomes was drafted 10th overall in 2017 by the Chiefs. And even though he hasn't achieved the plus-30 TDs feat in the "last 3 years," he has done that in the past.
Back in 2020, he scored 38 touchdowns, continuing the streak in 2021 with 37 and a league high 41 in 2022. On top of that, in 2018, Mahomes' first year as a starter, he scored a league high 50 touchdowns
As for Josh Allen, he was drafted seventh overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. Similarly, he hasn't been able to cross the 30 mark in the last three years. But he has also achieved that feat before.
In 2020, he scored 37 TDs, 36 in 2021 and 35 in 2022.
That being said, Goff moves a step closer to the gold standard of consistency set by Drew Brees.
He is the only quarterback in NFL history to record nine seasons with at least 30 touchdown passes. And the New Orleans Saints' legend holds the Guinness World record for the same.
However, while Goff holds the edge in 30-plus touchdown consistency, Super Bowl success has eluded him throughout his career.
Postseason Resumes Separate Jared Goff, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen
The conversation shifts once the postseason begins, where numbers carry more weight and legacies start to take shape.
Jared Goff came to Detroit in 2021 after completing his time with the Rams. Since then, the Lions have reached the postseason twice.
The Lions and Goff reached the conference championship in the 2023 season, but they lost it to the San Francisco 49ers by 34-31.
Again in 2024, they reached the divisional round but lost to the Washington Commanders 45-31. In 2025, the Lions did not even qualify for the playoffs.
On the other hand, Patrick Mahomes is one of the most successful QBs in the NFL. With him as a starter, the Chiefs have reached the playoffs every year except 2025.
The Chiefs have won the Super Bowl four times and appeared in seven. Three wins and five appearances in those big games have come with Mahomes as their quarterback.
At the end, Allen is on an altogether different streak of losing in the postseason. Since his arrival in 2018, the Bills have reached the playoffs seven times but never managed to reach the big game.
