With David Montgomery gone, Jahmyr Gibbs now steps into the spotlight, teaming up with a two-time Super Bowl winner to reshape the Detroit Lions' run game.

On Tuesday, the Detroit Lions finalized an agreement with Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco. Coach Dan Campbell and GM Brad Holmes landed their hands on Pacheco to fix the roster gaps after David Montgomery’s departure.

On 10 March, NFL Network Insider Tom Pelissero reported on an agreement on his X handle. “Source: The Lions are signing RB Isiah Pacheco,” Tom Pelissero wrote.

27-year-old Isiah Pacheco “Pop” was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs as a running back in 2022. Drafted in the 7th round, 5 ft 10 in tall, weighing 216 pounds, he began his football journey from the NCAA Rutgers Scarlet Knights.

Isiah has completed four seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. During his career, he has played 51 games. In which he logged 576 rushing attempts by covering 2537 yards and 14 touchdowns. 

How Isiah Pacheco Could Complement Jahmyr Gibbs in the Lions Backfield

From a tactical standpoint, Pacheco’s presence could help balance Detroit’s rushing attack. The Lions signed him on a one-year deal to fill the void left by Montgomery’s trade, pairing him with Gibbs in the backfield rotation.

Now, while Pacheco hasn't been the best in the last year, not been able to breach the 500 rushing yard mark and a few touchdowns. However, Pacheco adds championship experience from his time with the Kansas City Chiefs. He helped the team win two Super Bowls.
