Jahmyr Gibbs enters the 2026 season with plenty of attention from fantasy football managers.

The Detroit Lions running back was already viewed as a strong candidate to be selected at the top of drafts, but he was recently asked where he would take himself.

Gibbs made his stance clear, responding “For sure” when asked if he would select himself. He then joked that he was either going to “make a lot of people happy or mad.”

That confidence comes as Gibbs prepares for a potentially expanded role in Detroit.

After sharing the backfield with David Montgomery, the 2026 campaign could give him substantially more opportunities, making his assessment particularly relevant for fantasy players deciding on their first pick.

Jahmyr Gibbs already has the production to support his confidence.

He played 713 snaps in 2025 and recorded career highs with 320 scrimmage touches, 1,839 yards, and 18 total touchdowns.

With Montgomery no longer in Detroit, Gibbs expects to receive most of the carries. He added that he feels good about the increased responsibility.

“I guess I'm getting most of the carries. I feel good. It's nothing I haven't done before. It's going to be cool.”

NFL's official website has also ranked Gibbs No. 1 among running backs for 2026, strengthening the case behind his belief that he belongs at the top of fantasy drafts.
