Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs was recently called out for his lack of a particular skill set. However, it was not anything related to his game-related activities, but something off the field.
During a rapid-fire interview with Complex Sports, Lions' wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown provided a confession about Gibbs’ skill behind the wheel.
"I mean, I have driven in a car with a few of them. Imma go with Jahmyr. It's like some iffy decisions he's made while driving with him," St. Brown said.
The clip quickly went viral on social media, with Lions fans flooding the comments with jokes and memes. Despite the playful shade, it’s clear the two remain close as they are frequently seen hanging out together off the field and have developed one of the strongest on-field connections in the NFL.
Gibbs has not publicly responded to the comment yet, but it has become one of the more entertaining teammate roasts of the 2026 offseason.
Last year, St. Brown was the team’s leading receiver with 117 catches for 1,401 yards and 11 touchdowns. On the other hand, Gibbs held his own with 1,223 yards and 13 touchdowns. He also recorded 616 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns.
Together, they have been one of the NFL's most productive WR-RB duos. They were the pillars of Detroit's offense, and Jared Goff leaned heavily on their abilities.
Gibbs’ talents are not going unnoticed anywhere, though. But his potential may still not be fully unlocked yet.
Dan Campbell Gives His Take On Gibbs’ Potential
Aside from his alleged poor driving skills, Gibbs is a phenomenal athlete. At the NFL Annual meetings, Lions HC Dan Campbell has straight-up admitted that Jahmyr Gibbs has still not unlocked his full potential.
“Jahmyr Gibbs has only scratched the surface. We tried to tinker with some stuff last year. He really grew, but I think we’re just scratching the surface of some of that.”
In 2025 itself, he logged 45 snaps in the slot and 26 out wide. It is expected that this style of play will only accelerate under Drew Petzing, whose philosophy looks to create and exploit mismatches.
Campbell now sees him as a weapon. What separates him is how seamlessly he transitions from runner to receiver. Naturally, Gibbs is being predicted to do big things for the Lions.
