The Detroit Lions have yet another crisis on their hands, with their $97 million defensive tackle getting injured during camp. And this is far from being the first instance of a player facing injury concerns during the Lions' ongoing training camp.

Crunch Time Sports, via Detroit Lions insider and writer Tim Twentyman, reported that Lions star Alim McNeill suffered a neck injury during Day 3 of the training camp on Friday, July 31 and had to leave practice to get treatment.

"REPORT: Detroit Lions DT Alim McNeill left practice EARLY today with a NECK injury, per@ttwentyman," BRUTAL NEWS OUT OF TRAINING CAMP, HOPEFULLY EVERY THING IS ALL GOOD."

Crunch Time Sports reported it on X on July 31. But this isn't the only injury that the Lions have had to go through in recent days. Rookie Jimmy Rolder also walked off the field after suffering a leg injury.

Additionally, three-time Pro Bowl star Jahmyr Gibbs experienced a back issue after completing his conditioning test.

Furthermore, Lions stars Brian Branch, Kerby Joseph, and Tyler Conklin have all been placed on the Physically Unable to Performm(PUP) list on July 26. Christian Izien and Giovanni Manu are also on the Non-Football Injury list for now.

The Lions are definitely not off to a great start following so many injuries, but the latest update on McNeill and another player will hopefully assuage fans' concerns.

NFL insider Jordan Schultz has given an update regarding both McNeill, who's currently on a four-year $97 million contract including a $10 million signing bonus, and star rookie Rolder. As per his report, neither player will be gone for too long.

"DT Alim McNeill (neck) is believed to be okay after leaving practice early on Friday," Schultz wrote on August 1 on X.

The insider mentioned that Rolder hasn't suffered a severe injury but will miss some time. He also revealed what Lions head coach Dan Campbell had to say about McNeill before his injury update.

"Mac is very important. It is gonna be huge. I know we're only two days in, but he does look better," Campbell said on July 31. "He looks like he's back to what he was. He's healthy. And, I told you, he would never say anything about it. He never did last year."

McNeill has been a defensive stalwart for the Lions.

But after his ACL was torn in December 2024, he couldn't really keep up his form, leaving again due to an abdominal strain. He played 10 games last season and made 14 tackles, a sack, and 23 quarterback pressures.

Though Detroit has been facing an injury crisis, it seems the $97 million star is set to return sooner rather than later.
