The Detroit Lions star Kerby Joseph has opened up about his recurring injury issues since last season. Joseph hopes to make a comeback soon and reminisces about the day he got the feeling that he needed to take a break because of the knee injury.

The first-team All-Pro safety went on to speak with the media and addressed his chronic knee injury. Joseph first had problems with his knee during last year's training camp and missed 11 games because of it.

"Woke up; it was swollen,” Joseph told reporters, per 97.1 The Ticket. “I ain’t think nothing much. I was just like, ‘I can still run, I can do all this, I’m f****** go out there and practice.’ We had a scrimmage, and I’m running, I’m like, ‘Man, I ain’t that fast today.’…I got the MRI, got the news."

His statement was posted by 97.1 The Ticket on X. Joseph recalled that after the Week 6 game against the Kansas City Chiefs on October 12, which the Chiefs won 30-17, he woke up with a swollen knee.

He was later placed on the "injured reserve" list in December. He has since been recovering from the injury.

In the six games that he played last year, he intercepted three passes, had four passes defended, had a combined solo and assisted tackles of 18, and 50 yards after catch on completions.

While Joseph couldn't play for most of last season, he is determined to return. However, an NFL analyst has made a shocking statement about his injury.

An NFL injury analyst might have some bad news for the Lions fans ahead of next season

Amid Joseph's best efforts to recover from the injury, medical expert Dr. Jimmy Liao, has just made some blatantly critical comments about Joseph's knee.

"There is a chance that he is done," Dr. Liao said on the Crunch Time Sports show. "The reason is that if this is cartilage. Cartilage is not something that generally heals; it is not something that regenerates, it is not something that regrows. He has probably tried every possibility."

While Dr. Liao has made such a bold statement, the head coach of the Lions, Dan Campbell, said how hard-working Joseph has been throughout the offseason.

"He's working his tail off," Campbell said before Detroit's first training camp practice, per DetroitLions.com. "He's not really had a vacation. He's been here with our guys busting his tail. So, he's putting in the work. He feels pretty good right now, but we have a long way to go. There is still an unknown but I like where he's at."

Joseph is still on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list, and it is unclear when he will return to the field. Meanwhile, the Lions have finished Day 2 of the training camp, which runs from July 25 to August 27.
