"He is a failure": Lions Fans Show No Faith in Brad Holmes Over Super Bowl Winning Chances

Despite two Executive of the Year awards, Brad Holmes is facing heat from the Detroit Lions fan base. A recent social media poll questioned his ability to deliver a championship, sparking fierce debate and criticism from frustrated supporters.
Woodward Sports Network’s post on X asked fans, “Do you still trust Brad Holmes to bring a Super Bowl to the Detroit Lions?”
However, the poll didn't yield good results. The Detroit Lions have never won a Super Bowl, and the quest for one could go on for longer.
The Detroit Lions named Brad Holmes as their Executive Vice President and General Manager on January 14, 2021. Holmes joined the Lions after spending 20 seasons with the Los Angeles Rams (2003-2020).
In the 2023 season, the Lions finished third in the NFC conference with a record of 12-5. However, they did win the North Division. The Lions lost the NFC Championship to the San Francisco 49ers.
The 2024 season was even better for Holmes and the Lions. They finished the season as the number one seed in the NFC and won the NFC North for the second straight year with a record of 15-2.
However, the Lions could not translate that to postseason success. Eventually losing to the Washington Commanders in the Divisional round.
The 2025 season felt like a step back from the 2023 and 2024 NFL seasons. The Lions finished 9-8, finished last in the NFC North, and missed the playoffs.
How did some fans respond?
Many didn't show any confidence. “No, he is a failure,” wrote a fan. “Absolutely not, zero trust. He had one good draft and has been pathetic ever since,” another user chimed in.
There are clear frustrations amongst the Detroit fans, and that trust seems to have completely broken.
“No. feels like this team is regressing. Don’t feel very hopeful for this year!!” another fan said. However, there were some optimistic fans as well.
“All the 'new' Lions fans will say, NO! Those of us that have been Lions fans for a long time, say….YES!!! Just saying,” one fan commented.
Another fan said, “Losing faith each year. But I don’t want to not acknowledge what he has accomplished.”
These fans seem level-headed and know that winning a Super Bowl takes time and patience, and Holmes is building towards that. The other fan does not want to forget what Holmes has already achieved with the Lions.
