Speaking ahead of the matchup, Staley had nothing but praise for the Lions star. He highlighted Gibbs' ability to reach top speed almost instantly and explained why that makes him so difficult to contain.

“I just think he has the knockout punch both in the running game and in the passing game. And he gets to top speed so quickly, and his top speed is faster than yours. So not only can he get to top speed quickly, but then his top speed is faster than yours. So that sucks.”

Staley also pointed to Gibbs' receiving ability, including his versatility as a back who can line up across the formation. That makes him a weapon regardless of how the Lions choose to use him.

For New Orleans, limiting Gibbs will be a major priority. If they cannot contain him, Detroit's offense could quickly become a nightmare to defend.

Jahmyr Gibbs Refuses to Underestimate the Saints

Despite the talent gap on paper, Gibbs isn't taking New Orleans lightly. The running back recently made it clear that Detroit will respect the Saints, regardless of their struggles last season.

Gibbs pointed out that both teams missed the playoffs last year. That means New Orleans will be just as motivated to make a statement when the new season begins.
