"Fraudulent" - Detroit Lions hit with blunt warning about their Super Bowl hopes after Week 2

The Detroit Lions' Super Bowl hopes have come under scrutiny after their disappointing Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Dave Portnoy had a blunt assessment during Wake Up Barstool, questioning how Detroit's championship window had closed real quick.

The Barstool Sports host also referenced his connection to Michigan before delivering a harsh verdict on the Lions:

"The Lions, I think—I'm sorry, Lions fans, I think your window—you had the fastest window closing of any team. I went to school in Michigan, Wayne Fontes' era. This team has been really, really, really horrific, one of the worst franchise[s] in sports."

He also questioned whether the Lions' turnaround had already unraveled, labeling the team “fraudulent”:

"It's like they turn it around and have everything going, and then it collapsed so fast—I think they're fraudulent."

Portnoy's comments came after Detroit's 41-31 defeat in Buffalo. The Lions entered the matchup after a narrow overtime win over New Orleans, but their defense struggled badly against Josh Allen and the Bills.

Detroit Lions' Poor Display Against Buffalo Bills Raises More Questions

The Lions fell behind 21-0 before their offense found any rhythm.

Meanwhile, Buffalo scored touchdowns on 6 of its 9 drives, while QB1 Josh Allen accounted for 5 touchdowns in the victory. Detroit's defense also allowed 299 total yards in the first half alone.

Head coach Dan Campbell acknowledged the team's issues after the game, particularly its communication problems and the explosive plays allowed on defense.
