An LSU quarterback's top-five list is turning heads at the NFL Combine. Garrett Nussmeier, a projected top pick with a $4 million NIL deal, surprisingly snubbed MVP winners Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson.

At the 2026 NFL Combine, LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier faced the tough question of naming the top 5 quarterbacks. "Mahomes is up there; you can't get Rodgers out yet. Rodgers is in there. Stafford, obviously," said Nussmeier.

"This is tough now. See, this is where it gets dicey. Now I'm gonna start getting in trouble," the QB said. "Yeah, I'd say those three, Baker Mayfield I think is pretty darn good this year. I like watching him a lot. And I'd say last, I'd probably go maybe a Jared Goff in there. I just think he operates his system very well, and he does a good job," he added.

None of the QBs other than Mahomes, Rodgers, and Stafford had won an MVP award in the NFL. Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen have had two and one, respectively. In fact, the Bills have never missed the playoffs since Allen started throwing the ball in 2019.

In comparison, Jared Goff has played only 5 NFL playoffs since the Bills' QB debuted in the league (2017). But on the flip side, Goff had a passer rating of 105.5 with 4,564 yards, 34 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions in 17 games in 2025. What about Allen?

He had a passer rating of 102.2 with 3,668 yards, 25 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in the same number of games. Lamar Jackson had an injury-riddled season with a passer rating of 103.8 with 2,549 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 7 interceptions.

But then again, Jackson has rushed for the most career yards by a quarterback in the history of the NFL, with 6,522 yards. Josh Allen sits at number 6 in that list with 4,721 rushing yards.

When Jared Goff Left out Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen & Lamar Jackson From His List

In a promotional clip for Season 2 of Quarterback posted by Netflix Sports, Jared Goff listed his top 10 quarterbacks of all time (in no particular order). The list contained:

• Tom Brady
• Peyton Manning
• Joe Montana
• John Elway
• Drew Brees
• Philip Rivers
• Eli Manning
• Ben Roethlisberger
• Brett Favre
• Aaron Rodgers

Leaving out Mahomes is a big shocker. Since his debut in 2017, Mahomes has won three Super Bowls and has only ever suffered one major injury and one season without playoffs. He has the most touchdown passes by a QB since 2017 (267) and only sits behind Jared Goff in passing yards.
