The last few days have led to a lot of chatter in the NFL. After all, teams have announced their 53-man rosters, which means players have been cut left, right, and center. This includes Lions fan-favorite Greg Dortch.

Dortch serves as a very efficient player in the return game, and was even gaining recognition in pre-season. Many believed he could potentially serve as the Lions WR3. However, in a shocking decision, the Lions decided to let him go.

Luckily for him, he didn't stay a free agent for long, as the Buffalo Bills quickly snapped him up. That being said, the Lions' decision caught him off-guard, and he revealed the same in a recent interview.

"I've been through that situation before, just getting cut and released. But this one was a little different. It kind of caught me off guard, I didn't think I was going to be put in that position."

Much like Dortch, fans too were also caught off guard, and it led to a lot backlash for the Lions. Now, only time will tell if they will regret letting go of such a talented player.

The Lions have brought back another player that they cut

Losing Greg Dortch was a major blow, but fortunately, the Lions have seemingly learned from their mistakes. Another player, whose departure bewildered fans was experienced TE, Tyler Conklin.

Conklin was signed in the summer and worked out with the Lions over the off-season. However, he didn't make the 53-man roster, which was surprising considering the experience the team needed in the TE department.

Fortunately though, the team picked him up for their practice squad, where he will hopefully prove to be a key piece that can help them in the coming season.
