After the Lions GM Brad Holmes made his latest roster move, a former Tampa Bay Buccaneers star had a message for Detroit Lions fans, and it’s already turning heads.

Christian Izien quickly embraced the moment after the development surfaced.

Reposting the update from NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the former Bucs star sent a message to Detroit Lions fans, writing,

“Motor city what’s good?!!!! Can’t wait to get to work and keep proving them wrong! #OnePride.” 

Standing 5’ 10’’ tall and weighing 200 lbs, Izien joined the Buccaneers in 2023. He played three seasons with the Buccaneers and appeared in 45 games, 111 tackles, with 54 assists. He has successfully broken 5 pass attempts, 3 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles. 

Izien signed a 3-year contract with the Buccaneers at $2.7 million. Further breaking down the contract with $901.7K average salary and $10K as the signing bonus.

Now he is moving on to the Detroit Lions for a one-year contract, with the agreement yet to be released.

The X post was celebrated by the Lions fans, as the post shows the eagerness of Christian Izien that will help the Detroit Lions to fill the voids in their roster.

With the release of veteran talents like Graham Glasgow, David Montgomery, Taylor Decker, and Al-Quadin Muhammad, the defensive line-up requires immediate reinforcements. 

Christian Izien’s joining the Detroit Lions offers an immediate replacement for the nickel and safety packages. This also improves the Lions' overall capabilities for coverage and run defense.  

As mentioned by Sports Illustrated, DB Christian shows strong route recognition, reads quarterbacks’ eyes quickly, and he also has the speed to close on crossing routes and intercept passes.

As the Lions are working on Dan Campbell’s rotational philosophies, his physicality as a tackler and the ability to track ball carriers in pursuit will bring stability to the Lions' defense.
