Ex-Lions QB calls for Dak Prescott respect following latest quarterback rankings

The former Detroit Lions quarterback Chase Daniel has been a vocal supporter of Dak Prescott for quite a while, and he has spoken again as the “Execs, coaches, scouts rank top NFL quarterbacks for 2026” list by ESPN has surfaced.
Former Lions quarterback Chase Daniel threw his support behind Dallas Cowboys star Dak Prescott after ESPN's Jeremy Fowler ranked him No. 6 among the NFL's top 10 quarterbacks.
“About time Dak gets some love…” Chase Daniel wrote on X. “There were massive stretches last year where he was playing like the best QB in the NFL.”

As highlighted by Fowler, Prescott, aka Fortress, has made his way up compared to last season. Per Pro Football Reference, he appeared in all 17 games for the Cowboys and threw for 4,552 yards while scoring 30 TDs.
Not just this, coming out of a season-ending injury (partial hamstring avulsion) back in 2024, his production improved significantly. He completed the league's highest 404 passes with a 67.3 CMP%.
“Prescott was plagued by interceptions (15) in 2022 and injuries (nine games missed) in 2024,” Fowler wrote. “But in his other recent seasons (2023 and 2025), his production was prolific, with 9,068 passing yards and 66 touchdown throws…”
However, he was ranked 6th among the top 10 QBs. The list was dominated by none other than Josh Allen of the Buffalo Bills, followed by Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Many NFL pundits believe that he can use his elite athleticism for his first downs, which would greatly help the Cowboys offense, who have been waiting to lift a championship trophy for the last 30 years.
Prescott wasn't the only quarterback to draw attention from Fowler's rankings, as Lions star Jared Goff also continued to cement his place among the league's elite.

The Detroit Lions fans also had reason to celebrate after ESPN's Jeremy Fowler ranked Jared Goff among the league's top 10 quarterbacks.
Fowler ranked Jared Goff at No. 9 out of the 10 QBs and compared him to legends like Drew Brees, Tom Brady, Matt Ryan, and Peyton Manning.
“Goff's last two years stack up well against just about any other quarterback. Over that time, he threw for 9,193 yards and 71 touchdowns,” Fowler wrote. “And only four quarterbacks have more 4,500-yard passing seasons than Goff's five -- Brees, Brady, Matt Ryan and Peyton Manning. That's quite the class for Goff…”
Per Fowler, Goff bagged nearly 60% of the ballots to earn his spot among the best QBs.
He did highlight a point that many NFL analysts have raised earlier around Goff’s pocket mobility.
This is also a major reason for him not joining the elite club of top five QBs in the league.
As the offseason activities proceed, Jared Goff, along with the Lions squad, is headed to restore their contender status for the Lombardi Trophy.
