Linebacker Kyle Van Noy has been a winner. He is a two-time Super Bowl winner with the New England Patriots. He also earned himself a Pro Bowl selection back in 2024. But currently, his latest battle is one off the field.
Van Noy recently shared about his health condition on X. He shared his post talking about his problems related to sleep apnea, seeking a solution.
"So I suffer from sleep apnea and I have a cpap! Has anyone solved this issue where they don’t have to use a cpap anymore. I would love any advice or pointed in the right direction to get off that d*** thing. I’d love to hear my follow peeps that suffer from this thoughts… I know," said Van Noy on his X post.
Van Noy's issue with apnea has been a problem that he has dealt with since his high school days. His struggles with this illness are well-documented. He could hardly sleep for three hours. Throughout his childhood, Van Noy woke up almost every night gasping to catch his breath.
It wasn’t until 2014, when Kyle joined a professional football team, that he learned he had sleep apnea. His initial experience with the device proved to be fruitful, courtesy of the CPAP device.
He even described the next morning, after using the CPAP device, as "felt like a Christmas morning". Now he simply wants to get rid of that device.
Van Noy's career started with the Detroit Lions back in 2014. He played 30 games, recorded 39 tackles, and one sack for the Motor City.
While Van Noy is dealing with personal health-related issues, he is not willing to give up so soon after a career that spans over a decade.
Van Noy Still Feels Motivated At 35
Come what may, Kyle Van Noy is determined to continue with his playing career. Neither his sleep apnea nor his 35 years of age is going to slow him down.
Speaking candidly on the Up & Adams show recently, this is what he said.
"I'm super motivated," Van Noy recently said. "I didn't like how last year went for me personally and for the team that I was on. So, I'm just motivated for all the people that think I'm done and all those things, because career-wise I didn't have the best season."
Last year, Van Noy managed just two sacks. This was his lowest tally since 2016, when he managed just one sack for the New England Patriots.
"There are guys I've looked to that later in their career, like a Cam Jordan, didn't have a good sack season back-to-back and then had 10.5 last year. That's kind of the motivation that I'm having," Vany Noy further said.
Overall, though, Van Noy is having a late-career resurgence of sorts. His top moments include a career‑high 12.5 sacks in 2024 and a Pro Bowl selection at age 33.
Despite his production rate dipping in 2025, he still managed 12 solos, two sacks, and one interception last year.
Now a free agent, he is looking for suitable takers. He is also making promises to his future employers.
"I'm going to get double-digit sacks for whoever picks me up. That's my energy and that's my mindset, and I'm excited. Whichever team wants to come pick me up, you can say whatever you want -- no one wants a 35-year-old -- I promise you want this 35-year-old," said a confident Van Noy.
Van Noy's career has had its ups and downs. Now, he simply wants to change the narrative around him.
