Former Arizona Cardinals wide receiver is embracing a fresh start with the Detroit Lions, and his recent comments have sparked attention across the NFL.

Greg Dortch is eager to leave behind losing and become part of a team with championship goals. The veteran signed with the Lions on a one-year deal in free agency and has already spoken openly about why he believes Detroit offers a better opportunity to compete.

"Like, losing is not acceptable here, and I haven't really felt that," said Dortch via The Detroit News. "When I was in AZ, we won four games two years in a row. It's just been tough."

The Arizona Cardinals struggled to maintain consistency during Dortch's five-year tenure. He was tired of losing. The Cardinals only finished with a winning record once during his first season in 2021. In the remaining four seasons, the Cardinals went 19-49 combined.

His latest comment about the expectations at Detroit highlights the difference he sees in the stature of the two franchises, clearly outlining Motor City as a class above.

Despite a disappointing 9-8 finish last year at the bottom of the division, the Lions have proved that they are capable of so much more.

"The coaching staff has the most NFL players on a coaching staff that I've ever been a part of," said Dortch. "You can just tell right away that they take care of their players, they know what the f*** they're talking about, and they're serious."

Dortch pointed out that Detroit's culture is one of the biggest reasons he felt comfortable signing with the franchise.

The receiver sees an opportunity to contribute both offensively and on special teams while learning to maximize player strengths.

Dortch also credited Drew Petzing, the offensive coordinator of Detroit, as a major reason for choosing Detroit in free agency. Petzing coached Dortch earlier in Arizona.

Dortch's versatility and experience could make him an important piece of Detroit's roster as the team looks to return to playoff contention in 2026.

The newcomer is already winning hearts in Detroit, as fellow Lions respect him.
