The Detroit Lions enter Week 7 with a 3-2 record after their bye. Despite last year's 5-2 start through seven games, Dan Campbell feels more optimistic about his current squad.
Campbell explained to reporters after practice that Detroit's youth and development have shaped his outlook. He believes the team is moving in the right direction and has more room to grow:
"I know we're ascending, and we're young, and we're growing, and that's exciting."
Campbell also reflected on how a team's condition can change over a season. He noted that wear and tear, age, and other issues can leave a squad feeling as though it has already peaked. However, he was confident his team was on an upward trajectory and would continue to improve:
"I do feel like we're on the rise here a little bit; we just gotta keep getting better."
His assessment offered encouragement for Detroit as it prepares to resume its campaign against the Green Bay Packers.
The Lions aim to build on recent progress after Week 6 bye
Detroit now faces a divisional test against the Packers at Ford Field in Week 7. The break gave the team an opportunity to recover and evaluate its opening five games.
The Lions will need consistent performances across all three phases to maintain their momentum. Their upcoming schedule will test whether the growth Campbell described can translate into results.
A strong return from the bye could help Detroit strengthen its position in the NFC North and build momentum for the weeks ahead.
