Earlier this month, the Indianapolis Colts released their veteran cornerback, Kenny Moore. They had to release him because they weren't able to fulfill his trade request.

The reason behind the request was that the 2021 Pro Bowler wanted a change after nine seasons. Now, the Detroit Lions have checked off a lot of needs this offseason, but the secondary could still use a veteran.

That is where CB Kenny Moore II fits in. He would give general manager Brad Holmes another experienced piece in the defensive backfield, according to Mike Payton of AtoZ Sports.

However, the Lions have a packed roster with a total of 19 defensive players, including Terrion Arnold, D.J. Reed, Kerby Joseph, Brian Branch, Rock Ya-Sin, and Thomas Harper.

In fact, the Lions’ secondary alone accounts for 21% of the current roster. So adding another guy makes things a little tricky. Plus, Moore has struggled with injuries in 2022 and 2025.

But, according to Detroit Jock City, even with the addition of CB Roger McCreary, having Moore too gives Detroit added flexibility if CB Terrion Arnold misses time or struggles during the season.

Even though he started only seven games last season, he was one of the most productive players for the Colts secondary. He finished the year with 55 total tackles, three tackles for loss, three quarterback hits, two forced fumbles, and six pass breakups.

Kenny Moore Posts Farewell Message To The Colts

Kenny Moore joined the Indianapolis Colts in September 2017. He recently opened up on Instagram about leaving the Indianapolis Colts after nine seasons.

“The moment I realized I wouldn't be putting on the horseshoe again, it was a lot to comprehend. Something I had to mentally fight myself about before I knew it was time to talk about it,” Moore wrote.

Moore also thanked the Jim Irsay family, along with teammates, coaches, and others connected to the Colts organization, saying the support he received during his time there “was real” and “was felt.”

In nine seasons with the Colts, Moore played in a total of 132 games, recording 649 tackles (498 solo), 39 tackles for loss, 20 QB hits, 21 interceptions, and 68 pass deflections, as per Pro Football Reference.

Now the one-time Pro Bowler looks for a new home, as analysts believe that the Lions are a fit for him, his ultimate destination will be determined as training camp nears.
