The Detroit Lions are bolstering their offensive line. The team has agreed to terms with veteran tackle Larry Borom with a contract worth $2.5 million, a move aimed at giving quarterback Jared Goff more protection.

Reported by Tom Pelissero on the first day of the legal tampering period, the Lions have made a deal with Larry Borom. "More O-line help for the Lions: They’ve agreed to terms with veteran Larry Borom, sources tell me and @RapSheet."

Larry Borom, a 6‘ 5’’ tall, 325-pound offensive tackle from the Miami Dolphins, has landed an agreement with the Detroit Lions on the first day of free agency trade. 

The Michigan native was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the 5th round (151st overall pick) in 2021 and spent four seasons with them. Later, he signed a one-year contract with the Miami Dolphins for $2.5 million. 

Last season, Larry Borom logged 664 offensive snaps, allowing two sacks and 15 pressures on 404 pass-blocking snaps, and five penalties.

Coach Dan Campbell and GM Brad Holmes continue to strengthen the Lions' offensive line. With the deal with Borom, the Lions are adding flexibility to their roster.

As pointed out by Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, with the deal of Larry Borom, the Lions could transition Sewell to left tackle with Cade Mays as the center and Larry as the new right tackle. This move helps complete the offensive line protecting QB Jared Goff.

With Mays potentially replacing Graham Glasgow and Borom adding depth, the Lions are reinforcing their line.

For Jared Goff, these additions will come at a crucial time. While he had 4,564 passing yards (2nd most in the league), he was also sacked 38 times, another career high. With better pass protection, Goff could have been the deciding factor in taking the Lions to the playoffs. Can he do so next year?
