The Detroit Lions quarterback, Jared Goff, despite an incredible season, was sacked 38 times.

It really shows how the teams' offensive line let him down, as they failed to qualify for the playoffs for the first time in three years.

But someone who was a part of the Detroit Lions' historic 2024 season, Dan Skipper, knows exactly what Detroit's offensive line needs.

Skipper, following an illustrious NFL career, has joined the Detroit Lions’ coaching staff as an offensive assistant. He was asked about how the Detroit Lions get back to having that unit in 2023 and 2024 on Crunch Time Sports.

“Yeah, I think it starts with, you know, attitude. You gotta have guys who want to be the best, want to play hard, want to do those things right," he said.

After having two successful campaigns, the Lions finished last in the NFC North this past NFL season.

The offensive line had its own struggles, with injuries and personnel issues. With Dan Skipper and Frank Ragnow retiring, and Kevin Zeitler moving on to the Titans.

Not only that, but the starters Kevin Mahogany, Taylor Decker, and Graham Glasgow all missed multiple games due to injury.

“The Foundation’s there, we just gotta, you know, took a little bit of a wrong turn, so let’s get back on the road,” Skipper said. 

The Detroit Lions should look at developing the offensive line again with a mix of youth and experience. With the draft not very far away, the Lions need to get to the drawing board. 

Can this veteran guard help the Detroit Lions’ offensive line?

It is clear as day that the Detroit Lions need desperate help to fix their offensive line. There might be a player who could become an immediate help.

Wyatt Teller has announced that he will not be returning to the Cleveland Browns, making him a free agent this offseason. 

Teller is a three-time Pro Bowler, but has had a fair share of injury concerns with his calf. The Virginia native played his college football for Virginia Tech and was a fifth-round pick back in 2018. 

Teller was drafted by the Buffalo Bills, but played most of his career with the Browns. The one connection Teller and the Lions have is the newly hired Lions Offensive Coordinator Drew Petzing. Teller and Petzing have spent time together with the Browns. 

At the moment, there is no update on where Wyatt Teller will play next season. Petzing, however, could play a role in recruiting Teller to the Lions.
