The Detroit Lions are one of the favorites to win the NFC North heading into the new NFL season. Head coach Dan Campbell is confident heading into the new season and was recently a guest on 97.1 The Ticket ahead of the season opener.

Speaking about quarterback Jared Goff, Campbell heaped praise on him and lauded him for the progress he has made in ecent seasons. He also praised Goff for his play in training camp:

"Every year, [Jared Goff] does things faster. He gets much more proficient. He gets faster. But yet, he's still on the money. I think that comes with his own maturity, his own growth, his leadership. But just the more time on task, the more he's seen at real-time games, I mean, his growth has been exponential.

I just think, he's got a really good grasp of what defences are throwing at him. He can make adjustments in real-time. He doesn't get bogged down. He's playing at a high level, and I feel like this camp, he took it another step." (via 97.1 The Ticket)

Dan Campbell says Jared Goff is a "special" talent

Dan Campbell went on to speak about how lucky the Lions are to have a QB of Jared Goff's ability with them. Campbell praised Goff's and what he brought to the Lions:

"I say it all the time, and I'm going to say it again, we're fortunate to have this quarterback, man. He is a special freaking dude, and they can play the quarterback position at a high level."

Dan Campbell also responded to a question about Jared Goff not getting the credit he deserves, saying that his focus was on winning:

"I mean, our focus is on winning. You win, and everybody gets the credit that they're due."

The Lions start their season on Thursday night against the Buffalo Bills at Highmark Stadium.
