Dan Campbell Hails Lions Superstar Following Major Position Switch

The Detroit Lions enter their bye week at 3-2, knowing there's plenty of work ahead if they want to reclaim their place among the NFC's elite. Despite an impressive 45-21 victory over Arizona, Detroit has experienced an inconsistent start, with questions surrounding the offense, defense, and coaching staff.

However, not every decision has created problems. Moving Penei Sewell from right tackle to left tackle was a significant gamble, considering how dominant he had been on the right side. The Pro Bowl and All-Pro lineman had established himself as one of the NFL's best at his original position, making the switch a major test.

So far, the decision appears to be paying off. Head coach Dan Campbell recently discussed Sewell's transition, expressing excitement about how naturally the superstar has adapted to his new responsibilities.

"The switch has been outstanding. I feel like, in some regards, he looks even smoother than he did at right, and I never thought he looked out of place at right. It feels like he’s found even another gear here."

Campbell's praise highlights just how successful the transition has been. Sewell isn't merely surviving on the left side; he's showing signs of becoming an even more complete offensive lineman. For a team still working through its broader issues, his development is an encouraging sign.

Lions Look to Regain Momentum Against the Packers

Detroit's next challenge comes against the Green Bay Packers on October 25, following the bye week. The divisional showdown presents an opportunity for the Lions to build momentum and strengthen their position in the NFC North.

Sewell's performance will be crucial against Green Bay's defensive front. His ability to protect Jared Goff's blind side and create running lanes for Jahmyr Gibbs could determine how effectively Detroit's offense operates.

The Lions still have plenty to improve, but Sewell's successful switch gives Campbell another reason for optimism heading into a pivotal stretch of the season.
