The Detroit Lions have emerged as a potential landing spot for quarterback Brendan Sorsby, but head coach Dan Campbell was not ready to reveal much when asked about the connection.

“All I can tell you is that we look at everything,” Campbell said, per SportsNaut. “(General manager) Brad (Holmes) looks at everything, and so nothing is off the docket, so our eyes are open. Doesn’t mean we will make a move or we won’t.”

The statement has sparked ongoing speculation that the Lions could bring Sorsby if he is available through the NFL supplemental draft. The former Texas Tech quarterback recently entered the process after an unexpected twist in his NCAA eligibility case.

The Lions and Campbell did not provide any concrete plans for acquiring Sorsby. But they are clear on building their roster. While the Lions already have an established starter, Jared Goff, they do want a developing QB behind him.

Right now, the Lions have Goff as the starter, Teddy Bridgewater as the backup and Luke Altmyer as the third-string option. The team does need a franchise QB after Goff hangs up his cleats, and Sorsby certainly has the numbers for it.

Last season as the Cincinnati Bearcats QB, Sorsby threw for 2,800 yards, completing 61.6% of his passes and 27 touchdowns. However, his gambling incident has organizations worried about his long-term future.

To select Sorsby in the supplemental draft, the Lions will have to give away their 2027 draft pick. The franchise and head coach have not provided any confirmation.

However, according to Bleacher Report, there are five landing spots for Sorsby, and Detroit is not one of them.

Alex Kay of Bleacher Report released a list of five landing spots for Brendan Sorsby. Topping the list are the Arizona Cardinals, who have Jacoby Brissett, Gardner Minshew II and Carson Beck competing for the QB1 job.

Rounding out the list are the Cleveland Browns, Miami Dolphins, New York Jets, and Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Browns head coach, Todd Monken, has openly stated that he finds Sorsby a "slippery slope," but ultimately, general manager Andrew Berry will have the final say in the matter.

Miami has Malik Willis and Quinn Ewers. Willis has started just six games in his four-year career, and Ewers, who was drafted in the seventh round last year, still has a lot to learn.

The Jets acquired Geno Smith this offseason, but the veteran QB hasn't had much luck since the 2024 season, when he won 10 games for the Seahawks.

Lastly, the Steelers have Aaron Rodgers as the starting QB, but like the Lions, they also need someone who can take the reins once Rodgers retires.
