Dan Campbell is setting the record straight. Amidst swirling rumors of a rift with GM Brad Holmes, the Detroit Lions head coach delivered a fiery statement on Friday. His words aimed to put any speculation about front-office turmoil to rest.

While speaking at the Crain’s Detroit Business Newsmakers of the Year Luncheon on Friday, March 27, he said, “Brad and myself do everything together. And despite what’s been out there, that’s a bunch of - listen, we’re golden, man. We are as good as we’ve ever been, we want to win, and we’re going to get it right.”

These comments address speculation that the two were not on the same page regarding recent roster additions. The team lost multiple defensive and offensive veterans like David Montgomery, while many fans weren't too impressed with the signings.

The Lions also finished 9-8, missing the playoffs, after they had one of their best seasons in the 2024 season. At the time, they finished 15-2 and won the NFC North division while also having the best record in the NFC. That's why a united front from the GM and the Coach could be important in winning a championship in 2026

The duo of Campbell and Holmes were both hired back in 2021, days apart from each other, to lead the Detroit Lions and are currently in their sixth season together.

Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes will look to replicate successes from the past going into the 2026 NFL season.

What are the plans Holmes and Campbell have for this season?

Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes know replicating that success is not going to happen overnight.

“Can we (Holmes and Campbell) flip this thing in a year?” Then the duo soon realized that, “It’s probably going to take three years,” Campbell explained.

Campbell added, “It’s not enough and look let’s call it what it is: you come out of what we did and you go 9-8, man, that’s - OK, winning record, but it’s such a disappointment cause you know you’re better than that, we should be better than that, we cam be better.”

The Detroit team has made some free agent signings. Now, with the Draft to look forward to, how will Holmes and Campbell fare in the 2026 NFL season?
