After the court hearing in Terrion Arnold's case, the Detroit Lions wasted no time cutting ties. Now, with head coach Dan Campbell looking for solutions at the cornerback position, Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys may hold a trade answer.

Dallas might actually have the surplus that Detroit needs. While DaRon Bland has locked in at one boundary spot, Cobie Durant, Shavon Revel, and Caelen Carson are battling for the other.

On top of that, Dallas has Caleb Downs set to man the slot, with Durant as a backup there. They even have rookie Devin Moore.

If Moore proves he's ready to contribute for the Cowboys, the team could have five viable cornerbacks, giving them a genuine reason to trade one. According to Mike Moraitis of Sports Illustrated, Carson looks like the most logical trade chip.

“There are many reasons to believe why Carson would be the guy who gets moved, and first and foremost, because he's the least likely to win the starting competition on the boundary,” wrote Moraitis.

Last season, Carson allowed a 57.9% completion rate and an 88.9 passer rating when targeted on 19 attempts.

He has earned a 76.3 run-defensive grade and an overall grade of 54.8 in the 2025 season. On top of that, Carson really shone during OTAs and mandatory minicamp.

If the Cowboys and Lions are considering a trade, Carson would most likely be the perfect target. However, the Lions might also look inside their roster for the solution.

Reports hint Dan Campbell is banking on internal solutions

With Terrion Arnold gone, multiple reports hint at Rock Ya-Sin taking his spot as the Lions' starting outside cornerback.

According to Jeremy Reisman of SB Nation, the Lions "like him a lot," and with the increase in his paycheck, Rock Ya-Sin will be given a chance to prove his potential.

"I believe Ya-Sin can give the Lions average cornerback play this year, especially since he won't have to be the team's No. 1 guy. That is reserved for D.J. Reed," Reisman wrote on June 30.

Originally signed as a depth option before the 2025 season, Ya-Sin played in all 17 regular-season games and made six starts when injuries reshaped the Lions' secondary roster.

During that stretch, Ya-Sin recorded 47 tackles, 27 solo, nine pass breakups, and two quarterback hits. According to Pro Football Focus, Ya-Sin ranked 57th among the 114 qualifying cornerbacks in 2025.

The team brought him back to the team with a $3.2 million contract in March, and it appears they will have more responsibility for him.

On top of that, Ennis Rakestraw Jr. could earn a bigger role if he stays healthy, while Roger McCreary and rookie Keith Abney will compete for the slot, and Khalil Dorsey and Nick Whiteside are battling for backup roles.
