Back in 2024, a rookie Caleb Williams was playing his 2nd ever NFL game, and it resulted in a red-faced moment in a loss to the Houston Texans. That moment was recently revisited by Texas, but this time, the fans were quick to dish it back to the Texans quarterback, CJ Stroud.

Yesterday, the Houston Texans' official account posted a cheeky replay of an interception that Williams threw early in the fourth quarter in that game. With the Bears losing 10-19, Williams threw a pass deep right, but it ended up in Kamari Lassiter's hands.

"Anybody remember this 😏," the post caption read.

After a first-game win, this would be Williams' first loss for the franchise, followed by another loss to the Indianapolis Colts a week later.

While being sacked seven times during that outing, Williams managed 174 passing yards with 23 completions that evening against Houston. The overall No.1 pick has come a long way since then, featuring as this year's Madden 27 cover star.

Meanwhile, CJ Stroud himself has been developing well for the Houston Texans, recently surpassing 10,000 passing yards in his three years in the NFL. The 2023 overall No. 2 pick held an impressive 9-5 record last year, but his stats don't shine as bright as Williams' in some fans' eyes.

Caleb Williams is already at 7,483 passing yards at the end of his second year, and for most fans, Stroud's most recent memory is the four interceptions he threw in a Divisional loss to the New England Patriots last year.

To put that into context, Stroud threw five interceptions in the 15 games he played in his rookie year. Now, with shade being thrown at the Chicago Bears, fans have pointed this out, throwing shade at Stroud.

NFL Fans Target Texans QB In Response

As soon as the play was uploaded by the fan account, fans were quick to point out comparisons to CJ Stroud, dragging his name through mud in the process.

"He was a rookie. Y’all aren’t doing it again," one comment read.

The fan pointed out how Williams had improved tremendously since his second-ever outing. In both his NFL years, Caleb Williams has never thrown over 1.2% in terms of interception rate.

"Caleb >>>>>>> cj & its not remotely close lol," another comment pointed out.

While many fans simply spoke about how Williams was better, one fan brought CJ Stroud's four interceptions back into the picture to prove this point.

"I remember Cj throwing 4 picks in the playoffs," a third user wrote.

Some fans went on to contrast how both quarterbacks performed after this game.

"Caleb after this game vs CJ after this game🤷‍♂️," a user simply stated.

Before Williams threw an interception in the game, he was almost sacked, but still managed to stay up and attempt a pass. One fan pointed this out.

"Gotta respect Caleb for staying up. Sheesh!" another user pointed out.

All in all, what started as playful shade from the Texans quickly turned into a full-fledged quarterback debate online, with fans wasting no time defending Caleb Williams while turning the spotlight right back onto CJ Stroud's own recent playoff struggles.
