It looks like the Chicago Bears might have finalized the site of their dream dome-shaped stadium after five years of uncertainty. 

As reported by Joanie Lum of Fox 32 Chicago, the Bears have started conducting soil testing nears the proposed Wolf Lake site in Hammond, Indiana, per Marc Ganis, president and co-founder of Sportscorp Ltd.

"This activity is part of the normal site evaluation process as we continue to advance our stadium development project in Hammond,” Marc Ganis said. “We have an excellent option already in place and continue to assess additional parcels of land in the Wolf Lake region to ensure we place the stadium and mixed-use district in the very best location to serve all of Chicagoland."

Amid the testing, Ganis highlighted that it is part of regular testing and evaluation of the surrounding land for the smooth development of the project. 

Per Ganis, the Bears have also conducted soil tests on the Arlington Heights at the former Arlington International Racecourse.

Although the Bears have not finalized the site for the project, the competition between both Illinois and Indiana continues, as now it's not just about sports, political interference is also noticed. 

"The political leadership needs to get together around one deal and present that to the Bears," he said. "And let me tell you something, Mayor Brandon Johnson is acting like a b****** time and again. He is saying things that are not true."

And Ganis is not so happy about it, he pivots the conversation towards criticizing the Illinois politicians for calling the Hammond site toxic waste.

During the soil evaluation, the Illinois State Senator has recently proposed yet another site for the project.

Amid the soil testing reports, Mary Ann of NBC Chicago reported that Illinois State Senator Bill Cunningham suggested a new site for the project.

“I think that's an intriguing idea. I think it would be wise for both the Bears and the city of Chicago to explore,” the senator said. “It is a gigantic piece of property. We've already seen the establishment of the quantum computing campus there…”

Based on the sources, the new site is located at 85th Lakeshore Drive, near Quantum Park Development and the Old Steel South Works. It is being said that the site is 470 acres. 

Cunningham believes the proposed site strengthens the Bears' case as it is in ‌proximity to the Illinois Quantum & Microelectronics Park.

Although he refused to pass legislation on the project but he is open for discussions for the dream project to become a reality.
