The Arizona Cardinals' rookie running back, Jeremiah Love, found himself at the center of one for all the wrong reasons as a lighthearted podcast moment quickly turned into a talking point with all eyes on their Week 5 game now.

During Love's appearance on the St. Brown's podcast, he was asked to identify NFL players from photos. His failure to recognize Detroit Lions' Jared Goff (QB) led to a Lions podcaster, Matt Dery, sounding a warning about their star quarterback's motivations.

"Jared Goff gets easily motivated by little things and fired up to play," Matt Dery revealed on the Locked on Lions podcast about the incident. "This will be something that motivates him in five weeks when the Lions travel to Arizona to face the Cardinals."

Dery spoke about how Love's response was very bizarre, stating that Andrew Garfield is an actor in his early 40s. For Lions fans who've watched Goff not miss a game over the last four years, the comment certainly appeared disrespectful.

The former No. 1 overall pick has been the starting quarterback for the Lions since 2021, only missing three games in his first year.

In his five years, Goff has accumulated over 21,000 yards and 149 passing touchdowns for the franchise.

Many fans viewed Love's comments as surprising, given his prominence around the league.

"He(Love) almost talks about Goff like he's in the past tense, acts like he doesn't know him, then says, 'Oh yeah, he was nice, or he was good.' But very confusing," said Matt Dery on the Locked on Lions podcast.

Love's comments might be brushed off easily by others, but Dery believes the QB will remember the comments and use them as motivation, given his reputation for responding on-field to criticism and proving doubters wrong throughout his career.

Fueling Goff's extra motivation would be the fact that he's preparing under a new offensive coordinator, Drew Petzing, who happens to be the Cardinals' ex-offensive coordinator.

Jared Goff is already impressed with the new offensive coordinator, Drew Petzing. Petzing's offensive schemes have drawn praise since he arrived from Arizona.

“He’s been awesome, man,” said Goff of Petzing after an OTAs practice. “He’s been great to work with. He’s got a lot of his own ideas, and he’s also very open to listening to everything we want to do. It’s been a fun synergy between him and I and our whole offense.”

Goff, entering his 11th NFL season, explained that Petzing has an "extra part" that separates him from other coaches. He understands how to balance simple concepts with more complex ideas.

The Cardinals ranked 11th in total offense under Petzing in 2024 and second in 2023. Trey McBride, the Cardinals' tight end, earned consecutive Pro Bowl selections and First-team AP All-Pro honors under Petzing's system.

Petzing is already winning hearts in Detroit, and the Lions are confident their OC can lead them to one of the NFL's most productive offenses in 2026.
