The Los Angeles Rams’ starter, Matthew Stafford, recalled the moment when the Chicago Bears’ star quarterback Caleb Williams pulled out the impossible on the gridiron.
Sharing his astonishment with Chris Long on the Green Light with Chris Long podcast, Stafford recalled the miracle play of the “NFL Blitz” when Caleb Williams ran a 26-yard backwards pass during the divisional final game at Soldier Field in Chicago.
“They're a lot of fun to play in, except when you're playing Caleb Williams, and he sprints back to the 50 and launches the freaking NFL Blitz jump throw for a touchdown. I was like, "What the h*** is this?”

As the ball snapped on fourth down, instead of rushing forward, Williams ran 26 yards backward to avoid getting sacked and threw the ball to tight end Cole Kmet.
Kmet later broke free in the back of the end zone and adjusted to the high arc of the ball, scoring a touchdown.
The 51.2-yard throw through the air forced the 4th-and-4 situation to push the game into overtime.
Although the Bears lost the game by a 20-17 score, but Williams’ move was recorded in the league’s history.
Ahead of the 2026 NFL season, Caleb Williams achieved yet another milestone by becoming the first Bear to feature on the Madden cover.
Caleb Williams Achieves Childhood Dream With Madden Cover
Based on the press release by EA Sports on June 03, 2026, it is official now that the Madden NFL 2027 game’s cover will feature the Chicago Bears’ starter, Caleb Williams, marking the completion of a childhood dream.
“When I received the call from Madden, it was like my childhood dream was coming true. Being on the cover of Madden NFL 27 is a full circle moment,” Williams said. “I grew up playing Madden and imagining what it would be like to be part of the game.
In the 2027 edition, the game will have two covers: standard and deluxe. In the standard cover, the fans can see Williams doing the iconic NBA and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan's "Jumpman" Nike photoshoot, and his striking “Iceman” pose with his arms crossed.
The fans' game was revealed on Thursday, June 04, 2026, for United States users, and it is set to be released on August 13, 2026, worldwide.
With yet another achievement, the Bears’ star quarterback Caleb Williams is set to lead the Bears squad in the 2026 NFL season.
