Finally, a childhood dream for the Chicago Bears’ starter Caleb Williams became a reality as he got featured on the 2027 edition of the Madden NFL game cover. But this is not the only head-turner for many.

While appearing on the 4th&1 With Cam Newton podcast, Caleb Williams mentioned that the makers wanted him to keep his look as authentic as possible, since it is a pre-game ritual for him to paint his nails. They wanted to keep the details intact.

“They wanted me to have it. Um, but they also wanted me to be true to what I am,” Williams said. “They put me in a real uniform, and I typically paint my nails on game day…And so, um, I do it in season or for big, big moments and big things that happen in my life.” 

Painting his nails before important moments in his life is not just a choice, but it "stemmed from" his mother.

It all started back in 2023 during his collegiate career when he used to play for the USC Trojans. Back in the day, his mother, who used to work as a nail technician and raised him.

This makes him feel more around her and gives him the boost to make his mother proud. 

It is not the first time he has done it, each of his nail colors has significance every time he colors them. 

For the cover, he had a Chicago flag, the Chicago Bears’ “C”, he also painted legendary John Madden in EA Sports to cherish his legacy, and the NFL shield.

In the 2027 edition, the game will have two covers: standard and deluxe. In the standard cover, the fans can see Williams doing the iconic NBA and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan's "Jumpman" Nike photoshoot, and his striking “Iceman” pose with his arms crossed.

With yet another milestone achieved, QB Caleb Williams becomes the first Bear to feature on the Madden cover. 

He definitely nailed it!

Beyond the Madden cover, Williams highlighted the impact his head coach has already made on him.

Ben Johnson earns high praise from Caleb Williams

Continuing with his talk to Cam Newton on the 4th&1 With Cam Newton podcast, he talked highly about his head coach, Ben Johnson, when Newton asked him, “What is it about Ben Johnson that people still don't understand?”

“His mentality, like he's like a he's one of those, like he's just a dog,” Williams said. “Yeah. Dog. You ever seen that? Like kid dog. Like that's what he is like. Um, and he has that mentality.

Williams praised his competitive drive and genuine intensity that keeps the team pushing, even when the team has the lead. Johnson wanted more “whoop their a** by 50,” Williams recalled.

Not just that, Williams also praised Johnson’s high football IQ. Williams believes that Johnson knows everything about football, recalling their time in the meeting room where Johnson talks sharp when he means business. 

Under Ben Johnson’s guidance, Caleb Williams, along with the Bears, is set to again compete for the Lombardi Trophy and restore their contender status.
