Jahmyr Gibbs continues to draw comparisons to a Detroit Lions legend after another impressive showing in Week 3.
The fourth-year running back delivered a major performance in Detroit's 31-24 win over the New York Jets. His latest showing has only added to the growing discussion around his place alongside one of the franchise's greatest players, Barry Sanders.
With those comparisons becoming more frequent, Gibbs was asked by a reporter how much it plays on his mind, especially during games. Reporter Brad Galli shared Gibbs' response in a post on X/Twitter:
“Yeah, like I said, every time he's here I gotta step up my game, shout a little bit. So being in the same conversation as him is humbling. I mean, I'm blessed to be in it. Somebody I've looked up to for a long time.”
Gibbs' response showed how much the comparisons mean to him. Sanders remains a player the Lions star has admired throughout his career.
