The Chicago Bears have been rumoured to make blockbuster moves all offseason. Now, a recent suggestion of trading for star pass rusher Maxx Crosby of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Discussions centered around whether the Bears could pursue Crosby, especially if the Raiders fall out of contention in the 2026 season. The idea of pairing one of the NFL’s premier edge rushers is appealing, but the potential cost is a cause for worry. 

“If they’re a non-contender once again and Maxx is having a good year and he’s proving he’s got healthy and can stay healthy, then I think his value can be pretty high,” said Harrison Graham from Bears Now by Chat Sports on 22 June. “I think he could go for a first and a day two pick, maybe even two ones at the deadline if a team gets desperate.”

However, Graham also stressed how Crosby isn’t getting any younger and how his age also has to be taken into account before trading for him.

“A player like him, his play style, some injuries he’s compiled, like, he’s not going to be playing at 38 years old,” said Graham on the podcast. “He’s about to be 30, and he’s probably got two to four elite years left and then maybe a couple good years left after that. So, I think that things can change rapidly in this situation.”

However, Bears fans are not keen on the idea of trading for Maxx Crosby.

Fans React To Possible Maxx Crosby Trade

While adding a player with the talent of Maxx Crosby would be exciting for most fans, Bears fans are an exception. Commenting on the Bears Now by Chat Sports podcast, fans gave their honest take on this trade.

One fan explained why he believes the trade is a very bad idea.

“No, absolutely not! GM Ryan Poles had plenty of opportunities to sign a free agent edge rusher or draft an edge rusher, yet he chose not to, so giving up valuable future draft capital now would be a terrible idea.” 

“In a loaded 2027 draft, there is no way I would trade 1 and 2 for him,” another fan commented.

The 2027 draft class is already being considered one of the best draft classes in NFL history, having been compared to the historic 1983 draft class by ESPN's Todd McShay.

However, one fan believes that the trade could actually happen quicker than most expect.

“I believe that the Bears aren’t finished yet. It’s going to happen around the beginning of training camp.”

With the Bears actively trying to improve on last season, this could be the time when the Bears go all out to try and win the Lombardi Trophy.

“Forget it, it won't happen. We're gonna be stuck with the same edge rushers this season.”

The Bears do not have a great history when it comes to big trades, with their last major trade for a star being the 2018 trade for Khalil Mack, which did not end as expected.

One fan argued that what the Bears would offer for Crosby would not be enough and how other teams would have better proposals.

"No need to talk about Crosby, the Bears will never give up 2 first round picks," commented the fan. "1 first and maybe a 3rd but there's other teams that can offer what they want."

The failed trade to the Ravens had the Raiders getting two first-round picks, showing how there are teams willing to offer more than the Bears probably would, even more so if Crosby stays healthy.
