The Detroit Lions secured a dramatic 20-17 victory over the Green Bay Packers in Week 8. The divisional clash went down to the final kick, giving Detroit another important win in a fiercely contested NFC North.
Following the game, FOX Sports analyst and NFL legend Tom Brady presented Jared Goff with the LFG Player of the Game recognition.
Brady asked the Lions quarterback whether winning such a hard-fought divisional contest felt sweeter than most victories. Goff acknowledged the challenge of facing division rivals and explained why the result meant so much to Detroit:
"Yeah, in the division, and again the way it happened, to finish on the last kick there, it’s as good as it gets. Our division is so tough. None of these are going to be easy. We wish we could have extended our lead there, at the end of the first half, early in the second half. Got it done"
Goff completed 22 of 32 passes for 303 yards and two touchdowns against Green Bay. Despite wishing Detroit had built a bigger lead earlier, the quarterback helped his team finish the job when it mattered most.
Quarterback makes honest admission about Lions teammate
In his heartwarming chat with Jared Goff, Tom Brady also highlighted Amon-Ra St. Brown's impact after the receiver surpassed 150 receiving yards. The FOX Sports analyst noted how Goff seemed determined to get the ball to his leading target.
The Lions QB1 explained that St. Brown was his intended target on two throws down the sideline. He praised the receiver's standing among the NFL's best and expressed gratitude for playing alongside him.
Brady closed the exchange by praising Detroit's inventive offense and congratulating Goff on the victory.
