The Detroit Lions opened their season with a thrilling 31-30 overtime victory over the New Orleans Saints. However, Amon-Ra St. Brown believes the offense still has plenty of room for improvement.

Speaking on the St. Brown Podcast, the Lions receiver admitted that everyone on offense, himself included, could have performed better. Detroit moved the ball at times, but the unit also showed some early-season inconsistencies.

“I feel like our offense, we could have, I don't know, we all could have been better, me included. Uh, but it was the first game. I feel like there were some kinks. Um, but we're going to, you know, we're working those out.”

St. Brown also praised Detroit’s defense for repeatedly creating crucial turnovers. He believes that if the Lions can consistently force three turnovers per game, their offense will have an enormous advantage.

The receiver acknowledged that New Orleans still managed to score 30 points. However, Detroit’s defense produced when it mattered most, helping the Lions escape with a dramatic victory.

Amon-Ra St. Brown Wants a Super Bowl With Jared Goff

St. Brown’s comments also reflect the bigger expectations surrounding Detroit this season. He has previously made it clear that winning the Super Bowl with Jared Goff is one of his biggest priorities.

The Lions receiver said he wants a championship for Goff and believes winning it all would silence many of the quarterback’s remaining critics. That ambition has helped set the tone for a team that believes it can compete at the highest level.

For now, Detroit can focus on building from its Week 1 victory. St. Brown knows the offense must improve, but the Lions already showed they can find a way to win when the game is on the line.
