Expectations are already rising in Detroit Lions, but Aidan Hutchinson appears ready for every bit of that pressure. After returning from injury last season and watching the Lions continue as an NFC contender, the defensive end gave a confident message.

With Detroit returning with talent on both sides of the ball, Hutchinson's comments have only fueled excitement for the upcoming season.

"I feel like I have the answers and the knowledge to figure it out," said Hutchinson, entering his fifth year, as reported by Detroit's senior writer Tim Twentyman on June 2. "I feel like the knowledge of the game, knowledge of pass rush, my own development, it's at a point where I feel really, really confident."

Hutchinson has turned out to be one of the franchise's most important leaders. Since being selected second overall in the 2022 Draft, he has grown into a premier pass rusher and a cornerstone of Detroit's defense.

He was the first rookie in NFL history to record a season with 9.5 sacks, three interceptions, and two fumble recoveries (2022). Hutchinson is also the first rookie defensive lineman in NFL history to deliver three interceptions in a single season.

He suffered a fractured tibia and fibula against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6, October of the 2024 season. However, he returned to the lineup last season, recording 14.5 sacks and earning his second career Pro Bowl.

His confidence hints that the Lions are not seeing themselves as underdogs anymore. After a disappointing 9-8 season in 2025, down from 15-2 in 2024, the defender is all set to bring back the franchise as Super Bowl contenders.

Detroit will need that confidence heading into a difficult stretch of its schedule. They have a Week 10 matchup against the New England Patriots in Germany followed by contests against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving.

Detroit Lions Added Defensive Lineman to Give Aidan Hutchinson Relief

The Lions are preparing for the upcoming Super Bowl push, and attention has shifted to how the team can support pass rusher Hutchinson.

Detroit could benefit from adding two experienced defensive contributors to ease the burden on its defensive centerpiece, as per the Detroit Free Press. The Lions signed free agent defensive end DJ Wonnum in March and drafted former Michigan Wolverines defensive end Derrick Moore in the second round.

In Michigan, Moore came up with 21 sacks and 24.5 tackles for loss while Wonnum added 30 sacks and 32 quarterback hits to his name.

Known for his relentless effort, Hutchinson led the Lions with 14.5 sacks and 100 pressures en route to DPOY finalist recognition. He also learned that periodic rest could help him conserve energy for late-game situations.

For the first time in a while, Hutchinson may have some help in the pass-rush department, which could help preserve his energy and make the Lions' defense more impactful as a whole.
