Detroit might be one move away from fixing its biggest defensive gap. And this 132-sack veteran could change everything up front.

With the departure of the veteran talent, the Lions are now eyeing veteran edge rusher Cameron Jordan from the New Orleans Saints. 

Detroit's offseason prospects are still being shaped by their search for an edge rusher in free agency. Dan Campbell’s duo pair theory requires a presence opposite Aidan Hutchinson.

According to The Athletic, the Lions might look to fill this void by pursuing Cameron Jordan, a highly skilled pass rusher with a record of 132 sacks.

Cameron Jordan was drafted by the New Orleans Saints in the 2011 NFL draft as a 24th overall pick in the first round. He has spent his entire career with the Saints and has played 15 seasons with them. 

Jordan has appeared in 243 games with 763 total tackles recorded. He is also known for his tremendous number of 132 sacks and 3 interceptions.

Paired with Aidan Hutchinson, he balances the defensive front. Hutchinson draws double teams as the primary rusher, while Jordan can attack one-on-one matchups or collapse the pocket from the opposite side. That combination improves pressure rate without relying heavily on blitz packages.

"If you get a 10-sack season, if I was 26, I’d be asking for top dollar,” Jordan told TMZ Sports. “Things I’ve never asked for is top dollar. All I’ve ever asked for is to be valued.”

Cameron not only brings experience, but also the familiarity with coach Dan Campbell. Dan used to be the assistant coach at the Saints; during his time, he also trained Jordan. 

Based upon his career stats, he said views might be different, but he has a set value. If the New Orleans Saints are ready to match the value, he will continue in the Saints jersey.

“I’d love to be in New Orleans,” Jordan said. “At the same time, if the cents doesn’t make sense, we gotta find our own path. I know what I want to do, what I want to accomplish. If that doesn’t line up, then that’s fine as well,” he concluded.

Jordan also shared that he has three potential landing spots. Detroit stands out due to its connection with Dan Campbell, while the Chicago Bears are another strong option, given Dennis Allen’s presence as defensive coordinator.
